Jamie Carragher points out BIG flaw in Erik ten Hag's bombshell interview, he's not wrong

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were part of a segment on Sky Sports where they discussed the big Erik ten Hag interview.

It was Neville who hosted Ten Hag in a tell-all interview, quizzing the boss on his style of play, future and more.

Defending his own record, even as 2023/24 goes from bad to worse, Ten Hag blamed everything on injuries.

Neville explained: "There's no doubt that [Luke] Shaw and [Lisandro] Martinez are vital to him.

"One, they can step into midfield with Casemiro when Manchester United are attacking and provide that extra bit of pace and aggression - and they're braver.

"The one thing he said when I pushed him on style was that Manchester United last season had the most clean sheets in the Premier League playing the same way. Scoring goals was the problem.

"He said, 'that's proof that my style can provide can provide good defensive stats'."

Keeping clean sheets alone is not a measure of a good defence. David De Gea won the Golden Glove last season but Man United shipped at least three goals or more to Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Brentford.

Jamie Carragher pointed that out, saying: "But when it went badly, it went badly wrong.

"You're talking about clean sheets but in terms of conceding goals you're thinking of six at City, seven at Liverpool, three at Aston Villa, four at Brentford."

That trend has continued this season as well, with Man United conceding 51 goals in the Premier League alone.
