'Fantastic': Erik ten Hag reacts as Liverpool set to appoint former rival Arne Slot as head coach

Erik ten Hag's Ajax dominated Eredivisie, winning three titles in four years.

The only season without the trophy was 2019-20 when it was stopped early due to Covid-19. Before the halt, Ajax were level on points with AZ Alkmaar coached by Arne Slot.

In 2022-23, Slot who had moved to Feyenoord beat a Ten Hag-less Ajax side to the top place. Now, he is set to move to Liverpool to face the Man United boss again.

"It's fantastic for him," Ten Hag said of Slot's imminent appointment. "It's confirmation and recognition of his qualities. It's fantastic for Dutch football too."

Ten Hag's own position at United is far from certain, though, so but he still expects to continue as the Man United head coach next season.
