'I said it from day one!': Mason Greenwood's masterclass in Getafe vs Atletico stuns both clubs

Mason Greenwood played a crucial role in Getafe's recent clash with Atletico Madrid.

The Englishman didn't get on the scoresheet but he was pulling all strings up front, and it was thanks to him that Getafe managed to get back from losing 3-1 with just 20-ish minutes left to play.

Antoine Griezmann, who bagged a brace in that game, singled out Greenwood as the player who saved the day for Getafe.

"Mason Greenwood was really causing us problems in the second half, we couldn’t stop him and it cost us the game," he said as cited by Sport Bible.

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas was nothing short of praise for the 22-year-old as well: "I said it from day one, he is a fantastic player! He would reach his best level little by little, we have treated him really well."

Since joining Getafe, Greenwood has scored five goals in 15 games in all competitions for the Spanish side. His exploits on the pitch attracted interest from several La Liga clubs, including Valencia, Real Sociedad and Barcelona, as per media reports.
