Arne Slot is set to become Liverpool's head coach after the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season.
Television presenter Richard Keys believes that the Reds are making a wrong decision. He insists that Slot is worse than Erik ten Hag, who's clearly been below the required standard at Man United.
"I believe Liverpool are about to make the same mistakes that Utd did," Keys wrote on his blog. "Arne ten Slot. Really? Not for me.
"And I’m not alone. There isn’t a Liverpool fan that I’ve spoken to isn’t totally underwhelmed by the news ten Slot is going to replace Klopp.
"Ok. Let’s cut him some slack. I accept we don’t know. It could turn out to be an inspired appointment. But I’m not convinced.
"Why ten Slot? I guarantee you we’ll hear all the same things they said about ten Hag when Liverpool finally unveil their man. What you won’t hear is an admission that he wasn’t first choice. Or that his record in Holland isn’t even as good as ten Hag’s was."
A one-minute research that Keys didn't do (but Tribuna has gladly done it for him) shows that Slot has worked with a smaller budget at Feyenoord compared to what Ten Hag had at Ajax. Despite that, he managed to win the Eredivisie in the 2022/23 season.
In Ten Hag's final season with Ajax (2021/22), it was actually Slot who won the best manager award in the Eredivisie, despite Ajax claiming the title.
