Leicester charged with breach of profit - reminder of why Man City haven't been punished yet

Leicester City have been referred to an independent commission by the Premier League for an alleged breach of profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

The Foxes' alleged breaches have been in a three-year reporting period which ended in the 2022-23 season, when they got relegated.

Leicester become the third club this season to potentially get hit with a point deduction after Everton were docked 6 points and recently Nottingham Forest had a 4-point deduction.

This begs the question, what about Man City's 115 charges?

The Athletic say that this is down to the number of charges. 115 is a huge number, with each charge requiring its own investigation. It simply takes a lot of time to process all records, witness statements and required calculations.

The Citizens also do not cooperate with the Premier League, making the lawyers' job more difficult.

It is claimed that it could take one more year for the City case to be resolved.
