'I don’t mind the pressure': Foden on playing in a more central role for Man City

Phil Foden has had a fantastic start to the season, playing more centrally while Kevin De Bruyne is injured. The English star is at his best, full of energy and creativity, and he's really enjoying this role where he's always involved and needed.

Foden said: "Obviously Kev is out, and he is a big miss for us with the creativity that he brings to the team," said Foden. Julian and I have been playing more in the central role now. It is a position I really look forward to playing and I think it brings the best out of me."

"I prefer in the middle. I feel like I am always involved in the game and that is where I want to be. That is where I enjoy playing. I think being in the middle is a lot more challenging. There are always bodies around you, and you have always got to see people coming from behind and always checking your shoulder."

"I have done that from my youth days here at City and always played in that position, so it is something I am used to. The more games I play in there, I will just keep getting better."

"I don’t mind the pressure. Once I go onto the pitch I just don’t think about anything on the outside. I am just focused on my game and what I need to do."

Foden wants to help City keep their perfect start to the season when they face Fulham on Saturday.
