'Disappointed with how it ended': Wolves criticise Matheus Nunes following his move to Man City

Wolves are not happy with how Matheus Nunes' time with them came to an end. He just moved to Manchester City for a whopping £53 million on the last day of transfers.

At the end of last month, Nunes got into trouble because he didn't show up for training. He got in trouble because he said he wanted to join the Premier League champions.

Wolves had said no to an offer of €55 million (£47 million), according to The Athletic. But eventually, both clubs agreed to a £53 million fee, and Nunes signed a five-year contract with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Meanwhile, Wolves' sporting director, Matt Hobbs, seems to have publicly criticized Nunes for how he acted before his move to Man City: "I was disappointed with how it ended, it wasn't necessary the stance Matheus took, but we ended with a good resolution for everyone.

"Matheus is a hugely talented player but would admit that last season he didn't hit the heights he expected, but it was a tough season for the team, so maybe he wasn't allowed to do that.

"We've lost a player with a lot of potential, a lot of ability, but the situation has led to us bringing a greater number of players in to improve the squad and provide competition in the group.

"The players here want competition in training, so while we've lost a good player, it's made us a more competitive and better squad overall."
