'Lucky, dull football': Tactical expert explains why Bournemouth were right to sack Gary O'Neil

Bournemouth has announced the departure of manager Gary O'Neil. The Englishman played a significant role in helping the team avoid relegation and finish in 15th place in the Premier League. Under his guidance, the Cherries won 10 matches and play out 6 draws, securing their survival.

Although Gary O'Neil did a decent job, tactical expert @Zonal_Marking said that Bournemouth were right to sack him.

Expert wrote: ''Was gonna tweet that Bournemouth should sack O’Neil but bottled it. PL clubs have the ability to get in top-class coaches now. O’Neil did a good job, but also got a bit lucky, dull football, prob more than 50% chance he would have got replaced next season. May as well do it now."

Speaking after sacking the manager, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley said: "Gary's achievement last season is one I will always be grateful for. This has been a difficult decision, but it has been made with great consideration to best position ourselves ahead of the coming season."
