Xavi's entourage are denying that Barcelona are planning to sack the manager at the end of the season, reliable Barca source Victor Navarro reports.
People close to the Barca coach say there has been no communication from the club regarding a possible sack and that Barca are asking for calm amidst the storm of rumours.
However, Laporta's body language still suggests that Xavi's sack letter will arrive soon.
Laporta's annoyance with Xavi has been down to the gaffer's speech before the Almeria game. The club president wants Xavi and everyone around the club to sound optimistic for next season. But the coach decided to be more realistic with his comments and suggested that Barca may compete well against Real Madrid's economic might.
According to ESPN, Laporta feels let down by Xavi after standing by him when many Barca board members wanted him sacked.
At the very least, there will be showdown talks between Xavi and Laporta in the coming hours.
Sources close to Barca's Camp Nou offices already spotted Enric Masip — a member of Barca presidential cabinet and right-hand man of President Joan Laporta — arriving for a crunch meeting
