Barcelona are starting to lose hope in their ability to sign Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich in the summer, claims Sport’s Toni Juanmarti.
A reason behind that is because financial complications could make it really difficult for Barca to make a competitive bid for him in the summer.
The club’s officials have now started to feel that Kimmich is likely to extend his contract with Bayern, which will significantly impact their chances of signing him.
Xavi and Deco had reportedly both agreed that the German midfielder would be the ideal option to fill the no.6 role for Barca next season. Moreover, he can also excel in the right-back role – adding more versatility to his game.
But financial issues might not allow Barcelona to be able to make a strong enough offer for him and convince the Germany international to re-sign with Bayern instead.
Barca are likely to focus on strengthening their midfield in the summer and are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Real Betis star Guido Rodriguez on a free transfer in the summer.
