Samuel Umtiti 'considers retirement', reason named

Samuel Umtiti 'considers hanging his boots', according to Diario AS' Guillermo Perez.

The Frenchman has picked up another injury that forced him to undergo knee surgery – reportedly the one he should've undergone during his Barca times to recover the top form. At the time, the player opted against it as he was willing to participate in the 2018 World Cup which he eventually won.

The 30-year-old will be out until the end of the season. He could make a big decision on his future this summer, announcing his retirement or possibly looking for a new club as he doesn't receive enough game time in France.

The centre-back has made just 13 appearances for Lille this season. He was part of Barcelona from 2016 to 2023.
