Jamie Carragher tells Chelsea to bin Thiago Silva after 2 players shine against Man City

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher said: "Look at a couple of big away games, you go back to Aston Villa in the FA Cup and against Manchester City where Thiago Silva hasn't been involved.

"Listen, he's been brilliant for Chelsea since he's come in. I think with the age of him now and his contract is up at the end of the season, when you see those Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill playing there together.

"It makes it very difficult for Thiago Silva to get back into the team between now and the end of the season unless someone gets injured. Chelsea have got to start building something for the future.

"Looking at those two as a partnership and maybe another younger centre-back, I'm not sure who else they've got in the squad, but I think the days of Thiago Silva playing for Chelsea have got to come to an end."

Disasi and Colwill starter at centre-back away at Man City in the Premier League last week with Chelsea securing an important 1–1 draw.

39-year-old Thiago Silva, whose contract is up in June, will now be pushing to return to the squad against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday.
