Chelsea set for major windfall as Newcastle agree deal to sign Tino Livramento (reliability: 5 stars)

Multiple sources have confirmed that Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign right-back Tino Livramento from Southampton.

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, the transfer fee is 'approaching' £40m that Saints have asked for.

Livramento is a Chelsea academy graduate who left for Southampton in 2021. That deal included a hefty sell-on clause, meaning that Chelsea are set to benefit from that move.

talkSPORT's Alex Crook suggests that the clause could be as much as 50 per cent. If that is true, the Blues would pocket around ₤20m for the player who never made a senior appearance for the club.

Losing Livramento would've been a major embarrassment for Chelsea if they didn't have Reece James who would be blocking the path to the first team anyway.
