'Hard to tell': Jarrod Bowen gives verdict on controversial Soucek goal

When asked if he felt that the ball had gone over the line before assisting Tomas Soucek's goal vs Arsenal, West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen said: "I haven't seen it [whether the ball was in or out before West Ham scored their first goal].

"It's difficult because the ball was in the air. It was hard to tell. It would have been easier to tell if it had been on the ground.

"It was really important to get the first goal. We've won tonight. We need to take one game at a time. It sounds boring but we have to keep getting results."

On TV, at least, it appeared that the ball had gone well over the line. But the VAR team felt that there was not enough 'concrete evidence' that had happened, which is why Soucek's goal was given.

West Ham scored again in the second half through Kostas Mavropanos and ended up taking all three points from the Emirates.
