Patino suffers major injury & 3 more under-radar stories at Arsenal today

Willian heading back to the Premier League

Newly-promoted Fulham are close to signing former Arsenal forward Willian who has recently become a free agent, according to The Athletic, a tier-one source.

The 34-year-old was expected to visit the club's training ground on Wednesday with 'a view of agreeing a permanent move' after rescinding his Corinthians deal.

Patino suffers serious injury

Charlie Patino enjoyed a promising start to life on loan in the Championship at Blackpool from Arsenal but the 18-year-old midfielder has recently suffered a serious ankle injury.

Blackpool boss Michael Appleton said: "It was quite badly swollen, so it's something where we've got to control the swelling. Once we're in a position where the swelling is under control, then he can go and get it scanned."

Smith Rowe to play for U21s

Emile Smith Rowe has been absent from first-team training because of the club's plans to give him minutes with the Under-21s side, according to CBS Sports.

Arsenal's Under-21s beat Swansea City 2–1 on Wednesday night and the young midfielder played for 45 minutes (entire first half) after recovering from injury.

Ferdinand believes Arsenal have their own Luis Suarez

Rio Ferdinand believes that Gabriel Martinelli has what it takes to become Arsenal's very own Luis Suarez as long as he manages to stay fit for a long time.

Ferdinand said: "Martinelli, if he stays fit, this guy, I've told you this before what Mikel Arteta told me, he could be the next Suarez-type player."
