The Guardian report that Wilfried Zaha is 'determined' to leave Crystal Palace this summer but 'relaxed' about waiting for the right opportunity, even if it comes later in the window.
Zaha is currently valued by Transfermarkt at £40m - although there were reports that the Eagles could let him go for just £30m. Even if that's the case, we don't think Arsenal need him - here's why.
1. We have Willian, Pepe and Aubameyang
Auba has made that left wing his own and there's not a single player in the league that merits a starting spot over our 14, as far as we are concerned. Mane and Sterling can maybe challenge him but certainly not Zaha.
Meanwhile, there's a ready-made winger in Willian on the other side of the pitch, with Nicolas Pepe eager to kick on from his first season. The former is not here for long but will likely play a key part, the latter has the potential to be at the club for a decade or so.
2. There are young players to think about
Gabi Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson are all vying for a spot on the wing and all of them are extremely talented. Bringing in Zaha will most certainly block off their path to the main team.
Furthermore, Nelson would probably be cut loose in this scenario because we'll have too many wingers. Saka and Gabi are on new long-term deals, so Reiss will be the fall guy.
3. Zaha was not even that impressive last season
He is a decent dribbler (attempted most take-ons in the league) but even this stat comes with a caveat: his success rate (61%) is not among the best. Willian has a 70% success rate, for example. Apart from that, Zaha scored a meagre 4 goals and provided just 3 assists. Matt Doherty has been more prolific and he is a right-back.
