‘I don't want to sound too cocky’. Gonzalo Higuain reveals what Messi and CR7 liked the most about him

Gonzalo Higuain is one of the few lucky football players to have played with both Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and achieved considerable success.

As the striker himself believe, he was so successful playing with the two best players of the last decade because he was a perfect partner for both of them.

"If I am the footballer who has played most with the two, then I was the guy who best understood both of them," Higuain told Argentinian media outlet La Nacion.

"To understand Cristiano and Messi... it's not their problem, it's up to you. If I played the most with them, it's because I understand them both perfectly. I knew what they liked, what they didn't like, how they felt most comfortable and most uncomfortable.

"I think that what they liked about me was that I... how can I say it without sounding cocky... that I didn't try to fight for 100 per cent of the play with them. So they felt they could also depend on me.

"When they have a player on their side who depends on them 100%, they don't feel they are free of all responsibility. But with me, I think they felt they could count on me. They are two totally different players and I had the privilege of enjoying and learning from both."

Yaya Toure: I wrote a letter to Guardiola. It’s been a year and he didn’t reply

In 2018, Yaya Toure had accused Man City boss Pep Guardiola of having problems with African players and promised to send him a cake when he lines up a starting Xi with five African stars.

This caused a lot of controversy and when discussing this with The Athletic, Toure said: “I was aware some (City) staff were not happy (with the comments). I was the first to say, ‘OK, I apologise’.

“When something is wrong, I will say, ‘That is wrong, I don’t like it’. Unfortunately, a lot of things have been done wrong and a lot of things have been going on.

“We’ve been working hard on it, trying to find out what to do, sending the letter, sending people (City officials) messages. But it has been a year now and we don’t have any feedback.

“I said, ‘OK, it’s better to move on’, and hopefully I can send some messages to the players wishing them good luck for their games. I will always do that but, with the people at the top, it’s quite complicated.”

Toure has had a complicated relationship with Guardiola for a long time and hit out at the manager for being unfair towards African players. The Ivory Coast star enjoyed a brilliant stint at City, making 316 appearances for them in which he scored 79 goals, registered 50 assists, and winning 3 Premier League titles.

What Kylian Mbappe told Thomas Muller after knocking out Bayern - revealed by French media

Kylian Mbappe muttered some words to Thomas Muller in the aftermath of PSG defeat of Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinal.

The words Mbappe said in French were: "Thomas! Enjoy," as per RMC.

At first, it seemed like the French striker was trolling his opponent. From another perspective though, it looked like Mbappe was talking about relishing the battle against the Bavarians.

Mbappe didn't score at home in the encounter, but the 2 goals he grabbed at the Allianz Arena was enough to give PSG a 3-3 aggregate victory.
